“No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a secret place or under a basket, but on a lampstand, that those who come in may see the light. The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is good, your whole body also is full of light. But when your eye is bad, your body also is full of darkness. Therefore, take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness. If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, the whole body will be full of light, as when the bright shining of a lamp gives you light.” Luke (11:33-36)
“I have come as a Light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.” (John 12:46) “I am the Light of the world, He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life.” (John 8:12). Jesus is the Light that should not be missed, our focus should be on Him. (spiritual blindness)
Jesus tells us to “Seek ye first the kingdom of GOD and His righteousness.” (Matthew 6:33). The righteousness we need is only found in Jesus Christ. He is the One whom Jeremiah twice calls “the LORD our Righteousness” (Jeremiah 23:6 and 33:16). In Acts 3:14, Jesus Christ is called “the Holy One and the Just.” The word “Just” is translated from “dikaion,” which is translated “the Righteous.” The same is true of “Just One” in Acts 7:52.
We should seek the kingdom of GOD and His righteousness by seeking Jesus Christ as our Savior, wanting Him to reign in our lives, to be the LORD of our lives, desire to have His mind in us (Philippians 2:5) through being sanctified by His Word (John 17:17), reading the Word, studying the Word, and spreading the Gospel.
If seeking the kingdom of GOD and His righteousness is our goal, and we do not stray from it, we will be full of light or enlightened. Be careful that those things you regard bright and beautiful do not lead you astray.
Why is it wrong to have another goal alongside the kingdom of GOD? We must be careful not to commit idolatry. (extreme admiration).
Testimony:
A few years back, I focused on my 18Karat gold jewelries for happiness, I decorated myself with gold bracelets, ear-rings, and necklaces before leaving home for church or work. Was that idolatry? Yes. The LORD pointed it out to me, and I repented, and sold all of them.
Jesus said, take heed /be careful that the light which is in you is not darkness, (spiritual darkness) if there is no part dark in you, your whole body will be full of light.
When you are full of light, you know and see things before they happen to you or your family, good or bad.
This is possible when the light of Jesus Christ shines in our hearts to illuminate the truth and dispel the darkness of Satan. (Acts 26:18)
Luke 11:33 says, No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light.
Luke 11:34 says “Your eye is the lamp of your body.”
As children of GOD, we should allow Jesus to be our lamp, that through Him and in Him, we see the light. If our eye sees Jesus for who He really is, then you are full of light, but if you do not see Jesus for who He is, then you are full of darkness.
Jesus Christ is the Light, the Glory we were made to see, to love, to trust. His light alone is what we should desire, His Light will fill us and give us the light of life that we need, and when that happens, we ourselves will shine and give off the rays of Jesus Christ to others. “If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly bright, as when a lamp with its rays gives you light.”
Prayer:
LORD Jesus, please open the eyes of our hearts to see who You Truly are, Your Love, Your Faithfulness, Your Wisdom, Your Compassionate Heart, Your greatness, and Your power. Heal our blindness, heal our weaknesses, and fill us with all-pleasing light of your presence.
Amen.
