Sin is spiritual sickness, which limits us to go further in life, hinders our progress, so we must go humbly to Christ for our healing.
The paralytic man could not go to Christ, but had people carry him to the presence of Jesus. Sometimes we choose to sin, and we cannot get out of sin by ourselves, we need Jesus.
We must be careful to ask Jesus for healing, not only physical healing, but spiritual which is more important. We must stay away from the individuals who make us sin and live our lives according to God’s will.
“When Jesus entered Capernaum, the people heard that He had come home. They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, He preached the word to them, and some men carried a paralyzed man, since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof by digging through it and then lowered the paralyzed man on the mat. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” He was immediately healed. (Mark 2:1-12).
These chapter indicates that our sins make us sick.
Before the paralytic man was healed, he depended on family and friends for his daily needs. (feeding, bathing, and so on) but after he saw Jesus, he was transformed. He became a knew man, healed, gained strength because he saw the Light, Jesus.
Jesus was extremely impressed by the faith of the men who carried the paralytic man, regardless of the crowd (barriers, hinderances or mountain) they pressed on, they focused on their mission, mission to see Jesus who is our healer. The friends of the paralytic man said, if only we can get to Jesus, our friend will be healed. They brainstormed and decided on how they will get to the top of the roof where Jesus was, and they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it so they can lower the mat, and they did. (Great Faith).
Are you desperate to get to Jesus? To just touch His garment? “To cling on to Him?” (Jeremiah 13:11) He is our healer, our deliverer, the One who carried the cross for us, the One who destroys our enemies. Hallelujah! Jesus tells us about having faith like a mustard seed. (Matthew 17:20)
Another Scripture that comes to mind is in the Book of Matthew 8:5-10.The Centurium’s servant lay sick, and Jesus said I will come and heal him, but the Centurium said no, only speak a Word and my servant will be healed. We must trust the Lord and have faith just like the centurium.
Amen!
