Matthew 14:13-21 tells that “When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns. When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick. As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.” Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”
“We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered. “Bring them here to me,” he said. And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.”
The compassionate heart of Jesus was discussed again in chapter 15:32-39 of the same book how He fed four thousand with 7 loaves of bread and few little fish besides women and children.
Jesus told His disciples, they do not need to go away. Let them sit down so that we can feed them, and the multitude sat down, were fed and filled. What a compassionate Father. Everything we need is in Jesus, He will always give us our heart desire because of His Love towards us. I do pray that our hearts be transformed to be like Jesus, to be moved with compassion to help the poor, to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ, to be light of Jesus since He displays His powers and miracles through people even though He does all the work (just like the disciples that passed on the bread and fish) Jesus uses the weak (the foolish things of the world to shame the wise) and those who has been trampled upon so that He can take the glory, not the wise are called.
The story of feeding the four thousand and five thousand, the healings, deliverances and much more tells us that nothing is too hard for the LORD.
The kingdom of GOD was also demonstrated in the feeding of the Israelites with manna in the wilderness, and through Elisha His servant in the book of 2nd kings 4:42-44 how he fed one hundred men, it reads “Then a man came from Baal Shalisha, and brought the man of GOD bread of the first-fruits, twenty loaves of barley bread, and newly ripened grain in his knapsack. And Elisha said, give it to the people, that they may eat. But his servant said, What? Shall I set this before one hundred men? Elisha said again, give it to the people, that they may eat; for thus says the LORD: They shall eat and have some left over.”
What a Mighty GOD we serve. Our Father, Great provider. As Christians, we must learn to trust The LORD Most High with all of our heart.
In these occasions, Jesus was moved with compassion.
The Key word here in my opinion is the miracle and His compassion. (Which means emotion, pity, and Love).
Jesus’ compassion for mankind is unexplainable, love that is so great.
The Book of (Lamentation 3:22-23) talked about GOD’s compassion. “GOD’s compassion is new every morning, Great is His Faithfulness” “The LORD is gracious and full of compassion.” (Psalm 145:8)
“When He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.” (Matthew 9:36, Mark 6:34).
(Matthew 20:34) says, Jesus “restored sight due to compassion.” (Mark 1:41) also declares that “Jesus healed the leper because of compassion.”
Brothers and sisters, Jesus loves us so much that He carried the cross and died to save us, He rescued us. Have you been able to talk to Him? Prayed to Him? Ask for your heart desire in His name. He is there for us, His Love, compassion and Faithfulness is very great. AMEN!
PRAISE THE LORD!
