Humility.

Our Lord Jesus warns us sternly about humility and caring for the poor, because the poor will always remain in the land.

Paul also criticizes the rich in the Church in Corinth for humiliating the poor by failing to share their fine food with them. For Paul, the unity we share in Christ means all believers are equal in God’s eyes and worthy of equal honor and respect. (1st Corinthians 11:17-34)

Jesus advices us that when we give a dinner banquet, we should invite the poor, those who cannot repay us, those who will not invite us back to repay the favor, the blind, crippled and the lame, bless those who cannot repay you, because God who sees in secret will repay you openly. (Luke14:13-14).

Again, Our Precious Jesus Affirm. “When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for a person more distinguished than you may have been invited. If so, the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, give this person your seat. Then, humiliated, you will have to take the least important place or sit, but when you are invited, please take the lowest place or sit, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, friend, move up to a better place, Hallelujah!! then you will be honored in the presence of all the other guests. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” (Luke 14:8-11)

The 1st Century Roman sources even described guest being placed in different dining rooms in this grading of status, it was clearly the order of the day and reflected the values of this honor/shame culture. It is this kind of culture that lies behind Jesus’ teaching in Luke 14. Love all people.

Jesus Christ living out of this concern for maintaining social status as He eats with tax collectors and sinners. (Matthew 9:9-13;11:19). Brothers and sisters, let us allow Jesus’s footsteps to be our pathway, imitate Jesus, be spiritually transformed to be Christ like. Amen.

Regarding your character, what have you been able to let go?

-Have you been able to let go of pride?

-Have you been able to let go of verbal abuse? Lies?

-Have you been able to let go of your condescending ways? Gossiping?

-Question, what have you been able to truly let go? (2nd Corinthians 5:17).

Please put on your spiritual jacket (praise and worship)

Praise is beautiful to the Lord. Hallelujah!!
